Combustion lab does research with a bang
Marcis Jansons, assistant professor of mechanical engineering, oversees the Transparent Engine and Laser Diagnostics Lab, which is home to a rare $1 million test engine. One of only about 15 in the United States, the high-tech facility allows Jansons and his students to run sophisticated diagnostic tests on the combustion process by using advanced optics.

Wayne State opens Urban Watershed Research and Training field station
Wayne State University celebrated the opening of the Huron to Erie Alliance for Research and Training (HEART) field facilities. HEART is a collaborative effort among Wayne State, Macomb Community College, the Huron-Clinton Metropark Authority and Macomb County, and it aims to attract scientists, educators and students to conduct innovative research focusing on urban water systems and the environment.
