College of Engineering receives $25 million gift to promote entrepreneurship in Detroit
The College announces a $25 million gift from alumnus James A. Anderson (BSCE ’66, MSCE ’70) and his wife, Patricia, to bolster the entrepreneurial efforts of engineering and computer science faculty and students and drive Detroit’s economic renewal.
The investment will establish the James and Patricia Anderson Engineering Ventures Institute to foster a culture of entrepreneurship by offering expert guidance and resources for faculty and students during the startup process.

The College of Engineering welcomed 73 employers to its annual Engineering and IT Career Fair. More than 1,000 students and alumni filled McGregor Memorial Conference Center for an opportunity to connect with recruiters and other company representatives.

Research aims to develop new, more efficient catalytic materials
In order to support the world’s needs to make cheaper and more effective fuels, chemicals, polymers and more, new and more efficient catalytic materials and processes must be developed. A team of researchers, including several from Wayne State, is tackling this problem with the help of a new grant from the National Science Foundation.

is the chief engineer of the Ram 1500, named Motor Trend’s Truck of the Year for the past two years and currently the top ranked truck by Consumer Reports Road Test Score. In this position, Krear oversees all budgets, planning, engineering, development, quality and launch management of the Ram 1500.

was recently named Vice President of Engineering for Magnegas a technology company that includes among its inventions a patented process that converts liquid waste into a hydrogen-based fuel.
