Wayne Law transactional team again wins for drafting at regionals
For the fourth consecutive year, a Wayne State University Law School team won first place in drafting at a regional competition of the National Transactional LawMeet competition. Wayne Law's team took first place in drafting and fourth place overall (drafting and negotiations) during the Feb. 26 contest hosted by Northwestern University in Evanston, Ill. Another Wayne Law team competed at the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law and took home third place in drafting and fourth place overall. Wayne Law has been involved in the competition for four years, and during that time, has taken five first-place honors (2013 – first in drafting, 2014 – first in drafting and first in negotiations, 2015 – first in drafting, and 2016 – first in drafting). Assistant Professor Eric Zacks is faculty advisor for the teams, which are part of Wayne Law's Program for Entrepreneurship and Business Law.

Noah Hall appointed special assistant attorney general investigating Flint water crisis
Associate Professor Noah Hall, founder of the Law School's Transnational Environmental Law Clinic and founder of the Great Lakes Environmental Law Center, has been appointed a special assistant attorney general for Michigan for the Flint water crisis investigation. He will be part of the team investigating whether any Michigan laws were violated in the process that created the public health crisis.

Carl Levin honored with social justice award
Former U.S. Sen. Carl Levin, chair of the Levin Center at Wayne Law and the Law School's distinguished legislator in residence, received the 2016 Wade H. McCree Jr. Award for the Advancement of Social Justice from the Federal Bar Association Eastern District of Michigan Chapter. Levin received the award at a luncheon where he also was keynote speaker.

Nick Schroeck appointed special assistant prosecutor investigating Flint water crisis
Assistant (Clinical) Professor Nick Schroeck, director of the Law School's Transnational Environmental Law Clinic, has been retained by the Genesee County Prosecutor's Office to assist with its investigation into the Flint water crisis. Schroeck was appointed a special assistant prosecutor related to this work. Four second-year Wayne Law students also are working on this investigation. Schroeck also is executive director of the Great Lakes Environmental Law Center.
