College of Liberal Arts and Sciences newly funded awards for the quarter ended June 30, 2015

ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS

Administrative Contacts in the Dean's Office have changed.  For a current listing of officials by responsible area, consult the  Dean's Office Directory on the CLAS website.

Wayne State Institutional Review Board (IRB) recently announced that the policy regarding application of its Federal Wide Assurance is changing.  The change allows more flexible review of research that is not federally funding involving no greater than minimal risk.

New Fringe Rates Effective 10/1/2015 - WSU annually updates its composite fringe benefit rates.  The new rates increased summer research to 12.7% and graduate research assistants to 18.5%.  For research projects funded under non-competing renewals, the award budgeted rates will be applied until the award is competitively renewed.  Proposals should use the newest DHHS rate agreement with an effective date of 6/15/2015 reflecting the new fringe rates.

Collaborative Research Awards Incentive Program  College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and College of Engineering have partnered in a collaborative research incentive program.  For jointly funded research between CLAS and COE faculty, 40% of each college's indirect return, and 10% of each collaborating department's indirect return will be reallocated to the PI's at the end of every fiscal year for new grants funded beginning 10/1/2015.  The program is a pilot that will be evaluated at fiscal year end 2017.

College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is currently updating occupant information on offices and labs.  Correct information on occupancy will make daily operations more efficient and ensure that response to urgent or emergency situations are immediately communicated to people working in the area or responsible officials.
