Scholarly Writing SeriesCould a writing project use some attention? The Office for Teaching & Learning (OTL) sponsors a monthly writing retreat for faculty by offering a quiet, comfortable space to make progress on your writing projects. You could build an outline, sort notes, organize, edit, draft, or continue works in-progress. The OTL will provide space, laptops upon request, coffee breaks, and lunch. University Libraries’ staff (e.g., liaison librarians, digital publishing) will be available to assist you in locating and accessing resources, identifying venues for publications and providing support for citation management applications. Please note, seating is limited and this faculty development opportunity is not open to graduate students. Click on the dates below to register. Friday, September 8, 2017 9:00am-4:00pm Friday, October 13, 2017 9:00am-4:00pm Friday, November 10, 2017 9:00am-4:00pm Friday, December 8, 2017 9:00am-4:00pm Warrior Teaching DaysSeptember 25 - 29, 2017Warrior Teaching Days is a campus wide opportunity for you as a Wayne State University (WSU) instructor to attend a colleague's course and engage in informal conversations about teaching. The week is meant to spark conversations about teaching, give WSU instructors the rare opportunity to sit in on each others classes, and explore interesting topics and teaching styles that may be within or outside of your own academic department. Opportunities in traditional, hybrid, and online environments will be available to you. Participation happens in two ways: 1) You can open one or two of your class sessions to welcome colleagues who watch you teach (you get to determine which class session you open up and how many colleagues to welcome).
2) You can attend a class yourself by choosing from a list of classes where the instructor has agreed to welcome visitors. Registration to attend a class opens on September 11, 2017. Mid-semester Assessment ProgramThe Mid-semester Assessment Program (MAP) is a great opportunity for an instructor of record to get student feedback about the course while it’s in progress. It is a voluntary and confidential service offered by the Office for Teaching & Learning (OTL), and feedback is provided only to the instructor. The MAP follows a specific sequence: a consultation, a class visit to gather students’ perspectives, and a follow-up meeting to review students’ feedback and to identify any instructional strategies and resources that may be helpful. Click here for more information. Monday, October 2 - Friday, November 3, 2017 Registration begins September 11, 2017 We apologize for any inconvenience from cross-postings on WSU listservs. |
