The Office of the Provost and the Graduate School are pleased to co-sponsor a new award, the Outstanding Graduate Director, to highlight the important service by graduate directors in advancing graduate education in their programs. Up to four awards will be given annually. Each award includes a $2,500 honorarium and a citation presented at the annual Academic Recognition Ceremony.

All graduate directors are eligible for nomination by their department chairs and current or former graduate students. Award recipients will be selected on the basis of their demonstrated abilities as graduate directors, including but not limited to advising, supporting, sponsoring and inspiring graduate students in completing their degrees; improving graduate curriculum and instruction; recruiting and retaining students; and increasing graduate student diversity.

To nominate a graduate director, please submit the attached nomination form, the nominee's curriculum vitae and supporting statements from the department chair and graduate committee (materials can also be found online).
