Dear Wayne State community, 

It is with profound sadness that I write to inform you that one of our university employees passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 8, following a vehicle-pedestrian accident at the corner of Woodward and Warren. We are continuing to gather information on this incident and will update you as we learn more. 

Events like these deeply impact all members of our community and beyond. Counseling and Psychological Services has engaged directly with the employee’s colleagues today. If you need support during this time, I encourage you to seek it using the many available university resources.  

• Benefits-eligible employees have free, confidential access to Ulliance’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP) by simply calling 1-800-448-8326 or visiting lifeadvisoreap.com/memberlogin.aspx. Services include counseling, coaching, crisis intervention and community resource referrals. 

• Students can access resources through Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), Wayne State’s fully accredited network of diverse and welcoming licensed professional counselors, psychologists and social workers.  After-hours support is available at 313-577-2277.
