Dear alumni and friends: It’s an honor to write to you as the new chair of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice. My appointment began in August and, despite all the current challenges, the semester is going very well. I’m proud of our students for continuing to work towards their degrees amid the ongoing disruption and difficulty.
Excited Utterance is a podcast by two evidence and proof scholars at Vanderbilt and Arkansas law schools. They claim to have about 4 to 5 thousand listeners. They read newly published articles and pick the ones they like for broadcasting – to introduce interested scholars to articles they might want to read in depth.

Grace Novak of Royal Oak was selected for the organization’s scholarship. The $1000.00 award honors the late Wayne State University Police Officer Collin Rose. He was murdered on a street investigation in Detroit in November 2016. He was pursuing a master’s degree from the university at the time of his death.
