With dissemination support from the CDC Foundation, CBHJ distributes toolkit of COVID-19 mitigation strategies to jails nationwide With dissemination support from the CDC Foundation, CBHJ distributes toolkit of COVID-19 mitigation strategies to jails nationwide  

In collaboration with Wayne County Jail, the Center for Behavioral Health and Justice has developed a toolkit detailing key strategies for mitigating COVID-19 in jail settings, including testing implementation, contact tracing, information sharing and discharge planning. With support from the CDC Foundation, the toolkit offers recommendations to jails across the nation.  

Community Collaborations: Social Work faculty and students work to Dismantle the School-to-Prison Pipeline (DSTOPP) intruding on Detroit’s bright youth  

With the support of the Spencer Foundation and Focus: HOPE, Social Work Associate Professor Richard Smith is collaborating with Detroit-area community members and organizations to dismantle the school to prison pipeline (DSTOPP) as a member of the Urban Learning and Leadership Collaborative.

CBHJ, TBD Solutions assess Medicaid continuity for individuals incarcerated in county jails  

This partnership discovered widespread barriers faced by county jails to accessing and reactivating Medicaid for the previously incarcerated population. The resulting report outlines best practices and recommendations to improve access to Medicaid for those released from Michigan’s jails.
