Now is the time to apply for financial aid

If you want to maximize the amount of financial aid your student is eligible for, the 2021-22 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) submission process is now open. To help students, the Office of Student Financial Aid is offering FAFSA Fridays, during which a financial aid officer will assist students and parents with the filing process. FAFSA Fridays will be held in October and November with dates and times to be announced.

Wayne State University completes state-of-the-art STEM Innovation Learning Center  

Wayne State University has completed construction on the STEM Innovation Learning Center, and commemorated the occasion with an interactive virtual celebration complete with live remarks, a 3D tour, drone flyover and more. The facility, made possible by a $14.75 million commitment from the state of Michigan and bond proceeds to WSU, will serve as a campus hub for interdisciplinary teaching, learning and innovation. The building features 100,000 square feet of flexible classrooms, instructional labs, a maker space, and 3D printing lab with state-of-the-art technology to support hands-on and project-based learning.

Career Insights tool matches students with majors based on interests, goals  

With the recent implementation of Burning Glass’ Career Insights tool, Wayne State University has leveled up its ability to point current and prospective students in the right direction for their dream jobs. Data collected from Career Insights allows the college to tailor programs to the needs of students.  

Free flu shots available, required for all currently enrolled students  

Wayne State University requires that all enrolled students who intend to be on campus for any day during the fall and/or winter semesters receive a flu shot by Oct. 15, 2020. Students can receive their flu shot from the Campus Health Center at no out-of-pocket cost. If their insurance does not cover the flu shot or if they are uninsured, they will not receive a bill.

Wayne State University signs on to Detroit Regional Talent Compact, roadmap to addressing alarming education data and COVID-19 disruption  

Wayne State University joined partners in government, business, education and philanthropy by signing on to the Detroit Regional Talent Compact. The compact — a collective impact effort led by the Detroit Regional Chamber’s Detroit Drives Degrees initiative — is a 10-year roadmap for rebuilding the workforce talent pipeline in Southeast Michigan.
