Wayne State announces vaccine mandate

As it has from the beginning of the pandemic, Wayne State University's response has been guided by emerging evidence and local data. To best protect the health and safety of our campus community, Wayne State will require all students, faculty and staff who plan to be on campus during the fall semester to receive their COVID-19 vaccination. Masks will be required indoors through September 15, at which point the university will revisit the mask requirement.

Warrior Return Summer Activities welcome community to connect, celebrate

Members of the Wayne State community are invited to celebrate the return to campus and build their Warrior pride through a series of fun, free summer events. The weekly Warrior Return Summer Activities will be hosted on campus at Keast Commons and Gullen Mall from 4 to 8:30 p.m. beginning Friday, July 30. Each activity will include free WSU swag, food and parking in Lot 2. In addition to participating in social activities, students are invited to connect with representatives from academic advising, financial aid and student accounts receivable from 4 to 5 p.m.

Incentives announced for vaccinated students

The entire Wayne State University community is excited about the fall semester, which will see the return of in-person classes and many beloved campus traditions. While there has been much progress, the best way to ensure a safe return this September is for as many members of the campus community as possible to get their COVID-19 vaccine. The best reason to get vaccinated is to protect the health and safety of the community, but WSU is offering some exciting extra incentives through the new Warrior Summer Vaccine Incentive. All students who have received at least their first vaccination by Sunday, Aug. 29, can enter into weekly drawings for the chance to win a variety of prizes, including bookstore and OneCard vouchers, semester parking passes, laptops, and two grand prizes of a free semester of tuition or on-campus housing.

Wayne State leads Wi-Fi charge for Detroit's cultural district

The next time community residents and guests of Detroit visit Midtown Cultural Center sites, they can expect access to free outdoor public Wi-Fi. In collaboration with Midtown Detroit, Inc., the nonprofit leading planning efforts for the city’s cultural district, Wayne State University's Computing and Information Technology and Ann Arbor-based design firm rootoftwo LLC are working to extend the university's Wi-Fi system to public Wi-Fi for the Cultural Center. The first installation took place at the Detroit Historical Museum during the spring.
