Wayne State University has once again been classified by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education as an institution with “very high research activity,” the highest possible category. Wayne State has retained this prestigious status for more than 30 years.

Mike Ilitch School of Business student Morgan Putnam’s journey has been shaped by a mix of classroom learning, student involvement and hands-on experience. She will graduate this May and, through WSU's College to Career initiative, has landed a full-time position with General Motors. 

Wayne State is committed to making higher education accessible and affordable, with 93% of students receiving some form of financial aid. The 2025-26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now open, and students are encouraged to file early to secure the best possible financial aid package for the upcoming academic year.
