Welcome to our first Newsletter in the new electronic format!  Our GME office continues to lead the institution-wide Resident Wellness initiative. We updated and enhanced the Wellness resources page on our GME web site, take a look: https://gme.med.wayne.edu/wellness Thank you all resident champions for their leadership and enthusiasm on organizing wellness activities within their own programs: we received news about Halloween parties, visits to apple orchards and cider mills, and peer-mentorship events. We have been advancing our commitment to resident wellness in the meantime with a deeper, qualitative study into what activities have the best impact on residents well-being. We are in the throes of helping the Resident Council plan a Mid-Year Wellness Event. You will find more details in this issue. Also in this issue we provide some advice and support for research: Apply for a GME Office Seed Grant and get help choosing an article to publish in. Last academic year all graduating residents participated or led a QI project: way to go. We continue to train physicians who are not only passive inhabitants of their clinical learning environments, but active designers and architects of it for betterment of patient care. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we thank all residents, staff and faculty for your continued commitment to high quality learning and teaching. The GME office wishes you all a safe and productive end of the year! Tsveti Markova, MD, FAAFP
