School of Social Work invites campus community to learn about social entrepreneurship at inaugural conference

The Wayne State School of Social Work will host its first social entrepreneurship conference, “Social Entrepreneurship: The Emerging Role of Social Innovation and Social Enterprise in Southeast Michigan”, on April 6 from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Student Center on main campus. It will begin with a plenary session followed by two tracks, one exploring best practices of social innovation and enterprise and the other providing focused content on business planning and development for those wishing to start or grow a social enterprise.

School of Social Work creates Eli A. Scherr Endowed Scholarship promoting practice in Jewish agencies, geriatrics

Social Work received a $30,000 gift to create The Eli A. Scherr Endowed Scholarship, which recognizes scholastic achievement and encourages continued progress to students in financing their education. Preference will be given to full- or part-time graduate or undergraduate students whose field placements are located at a Jewish agency in Metro Detroit or in the area of geriatrics practice in the region.
