Year-long Celebration Marks the 150th Anniversary of Wayne State University and the School of Medicine
Year-long Celebration Marks the 150th Anniversary of Wayne State University and the School of Medicine

The Wayne State University School of Medicine has a long and proud tradition of producing world-class physicians and medical researchers, pioneering changes in medical treatment, leveling the playing field for those who are underrepresented in medicine and an unbreakable bond in our caring for, and support of, the great city of Detroit and the region. Our story began in 1868 when five physicians who served on the battlefields of the Civil War returned home to found the Detroit Medical College, the forerunner not only of our School of Medicine, but of the great Wayne State University.  Nearly 150 years after its establishment, the WSU School of Medicine is still fueled by the passion for its community and dedication to urban clinical excellence.  Click here to learn more about the yearlong Sesquicentennial Celebration and how you can be involved!
