Exciting changes, renovations on the horizon for Housing and Residential Life

There are more reasons than ever to make Wayne State University’s campus home, and students interested in living on campus for the 2018-19 school year can complete an online application beginning Feb. 1. With a variety of expanded housing options and less than a five-minute walk to classes, libraries, a 24-hour computer lab, the Student Center, and the Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center, living on campus offers unparalleled convenience and an experience that allows for personal growth, academic success and more engagement with the campus community.

Student organization provides solution for excess food waste  

Two students in the Irvin D. Reid Honors College have come up with an answer to the age-old question: What to do with all of that excess prepared food from campus events? Juniors Nicholas Ang and Camilla Cascardo have teamed up to form the Detroit Feedback Loop — a student organization with the goal of gathering excess prepared food from different restaurants on campus and in the surrounding community and delivering it to local homeless shelters and soup kitchens.  

Detroit Police Department and WSU announce leadership training program  

The Detroit Police Department Leadership Academy launched Jan. 5, providing an accelerated executive development program for current and future City of Detroit law enforcement leaders. The program, which is run in partnership with the Wayne State University Mike Ilitch School of Business, will engage law enforcement officials in collaborative training designed to enhance their leadership skills and impart invaluable business expertise.

Career Services partners with companies, offers opportunities  

Looking for internships and career opportunities can be a daunting task, and many students don’t know where to begin. To help, Wayne State University’s Career Services department maintains partnerships with local and global companies, giving students a competitive edge when it comes to landing an internship or full-time employment.
