To members of the Wayne State University community:

We were shocked and saddened to learn that Deepak Bhalla, dean of the Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, passed away early this morning.

Our heartfelt condolences go out to our university community, the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, and, most of all, his family and friends. Dean Bhalla was a dedicated scholar and educator, and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and worked with him. 

We have limited information right now, but wanted to be sure you were aware of this sad news before it became public. We will share more regarding arrangements to celebrate Dean Bhalla's life and accomplishments. Until then, let us band together as a community in support of his family, friends and the college he led.
