The Wayne State University Medical Alumni Association recognizes distinguished alumni and faculty for significant contributions to the School of Medicine and the medical community at large. Awards are presented annually during the Medical Alumni Reunion Dinner. All School of Medicine alumni, faculty, resident alumni and students are invited to nominate candidates for the Recent Alumni Award, the Distinguished Alumni Award and the Lawrence M. Weiner Award. Welcome to Auntie Na's Village, a community built for women and children on the west side of Detroit to learn about nutrition, receive clinical assistance and learn about healthy lifestyle choices. This year a group of medical students formed Auntie Na’s Student Organization and they will soon complete their Medical House, which will focus on Women's Health. These dinners are aimed at assisting the Student Learning Communities with advising, mentoring, career planning, and medical professionalism! They are held at the School of Medicine on various evenings from 6 to 7:30 p.m. and are arranged in small groups, with each physician personally interacting with medical students!
