Update on Campus Restart for Division of Research Employees

Dear Division of Research Team:

As you may know, we are currently focused on a phased resumption of limited on-site research activities, which are going through a rigorous review process. Wayne State has been and continues to be open to those operational areas with essential business or academic needs whose presence is required on campus. All Division of Research functions that are enabled to work remotely should continue to function in that manner until further notice.

Should any individual need to come to campus to pick up any items from their workspace to continue their remote work activities, please contact Antonio Yancey via email to coordinate this.

For those who do need to come to campus, guidelines have been put in place to ensure your safety and the safety of our entire campus community. The following are required of anyone who must visit campus:

  • Refrain from coming to campus if you have:
    • experienced symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, new cough, shortness of breath, new muscle aches, chills, sore throat or runny nose, or a new loss of taste and smell);
    • been in close contact in the last 14 days with an individual diagnosed with COVID-19;
    • traveled via airplane internationally or domestically in the last 14 days;
    • had a COVID-19 test and are currently awaiting results.
  • Wear a face covering that is properly secured and covers your nose and your mouth while on campus.
  • Maintain a social distance of at least six feet with others while on campus.

Towards the end of June and into July, we will provide guidance on a phased and structured return to campus process for Division of Research employees in the various units that is dependent on guidance from Wayne State’s Public Health Committee of the President's task force and individual unit operations.

As this process evolves, employees returning to campus will receive further communication and guidance updates on the procedures for doing so, which will include a) the daily completion of Campus Daily Screener,  https://forms.wayne.edu/covid-19-screening/#form-12827 and b) the completion of the educational awareness module, Be Warrior Safe (self-enrollment link).

For more information about Wayne State’s COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Plan, please visit here and also check the WSU Covid-19 website and the research restart update website for any daily updates.

Thank you for continuing to work hard during these challenging times, for following these guidelines, and helping to keep us all safe. Remember — Warrior Safe is Warrior Strong.

Sincerely,

Steve
