"My hope is that this moment of history will force us to stop and think and genuinely consider what actions each of us can undertake to make our world – and college – a better place." Read the full letter from Dean Cathy Lysack to the WSU Applebaum community, which hosted a powerful dialogue on racism last week.

Earlier in June, health care professionals across the nation – including WSU Applebaum faculty and students – knelt for 10 minutes in memory of George Floyd and all victims of systemic racism as part of the White Coats for Black Lives movement, which aims to encourage widespread recognition of racism as a public health issue. Detroit's event was on Brush Mall between Harper Hospital and Children's Hospital.

Joe and Ray RochePT/OT couple publishes high-impact research on COVID-19 treatment possibility
Their own work hampered by Michigan's stay-at-home order, Assistant Professor of Physical Therapy Joseph Roche and his wife Renuka, an occupational therapy professor at EMU, collaborated on research hypothesizing that dysregulated bradykinin signaling is involved in COVID-19 respiratory complications, which was quickly published by the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology's flagship journal. “I believe that all scholars trained in the scientific method can contribute in some way in a crisis like this epidemic,” Roche said.

Philanthropy corner

We remain committed to the mission of creating a diverse and inclusive student body at the Eugene Applebaum College for Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Philanthropy can help that mission through the creation of endowed funds.
