WSU social work students at the 2019 LEAD day

How does social work affect our lives on a daily basis? How can social workers and community members work together to affect change on the challenging issues facing our communities? How can social workers run for office to create policy that improves lives? These questions and more will be discussed at the virtual 2021 Legislative Education and Advocacy Day (LEAD) held by the National Association of Social Workers - Michigan Chapter. This all-day event will feature an inspiring keynote address, networking opportunities, and social justice forums and workshops on anti-racist practice, legislative issues, political action, and advocacy efforts.

The Wayne State School of Social Work encourages students to participate in the 2021 LEAD Day and at this stage we are trying to gauge the number of students who plan to attend the event. We, therefore, request that students planning to attend complete the WSU RSVP form by no later than October 13, 2021. Please do NOT register directly with NASW-MI to attend at this point, we will be submitting a group registration from WSU to NASW-MI directly with the names of all attendees.

We will be reaching out to all who complete the WSU RSVP form with additional details.

Visit the NASW-MI website for more information on LEAD Day.
