Wayne State University

Dear students,

It may seem hard to believe, but we are approaching the final weeks of the fall semester. I want to take this opportunity to discuss some of the plans for the coming months.

Thank you for your diligence in adapting to a new learning environment. The changes enacted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic — and, most importantly, your adherence to them — have allowed us to keep the virus’ spread on campus lower than in many parts of our state and nation. To continue maintaining health and safety, winter classes will be held in formats similar to the fall semester; please refer to the class schedule for information on which formats are available for your classes. Priority registration begins today, so be sure to secure your spot in class.

We look forward to honoring our fall graduates on Dec. 15 during Wayne State’s virtual commencement ceremonies. I know that a virtual event cannot replace the thrill of celebrating with your professors, classmates and family, but it is still safest to avoid large public gatherings. Details will be available on the commencement website, and I can assure you we will have a memorable event designed to celebrate our students’ achievements. Plans for spring commencement are underway and will be announced in the coming year.

Again, thank you for your continued work and cooperation. While these changes might be inconvenient, I appreciate your willingness to put the health of your fellow Warriors first. We are here to support you as you pursue your degree, and I encourage you to take advantage of our academic and wellness resources if you need any assistance. Growth comes through challenges, and while this time may be difficult, we are learning things about ourselves that will prepare us for success. You have already achieved so much in the last few months — keep up the momentum and finish Warrior Strong.

Regards,

M. Roy Wilson
