Dear campus community, In response to a surge in cases in the community and the risks posed by holiday travel, we will continue the suspension of all in-person classes — with the exception of clinical rotations in the health professions — for the first four weeks of the winter 2021 semester. The majority of our classes have already committed to an online format for the winter term, so this will affect a small percentage of students and faculty, primarily in the health professions, sciences and performance disciplines. However, we feel it is important to assure the entire campus community that we continue to keep safety our first priority, and apprise you of major decisions affecting our university. Any accommodations, if necessary, will be made to ensure that our international students maintain their status; students should contact the Office of International Students and Scholars with any questions. On Feb. 1, conditions permitting, classes will resume in the formats initially noted at the time of registration for winter semester. I know we are eager to return to campus, and there is hope on the horizon. Last week, the Food and Drug Administration approved the United States’ first COVID-19 vaccine; the first doses were administered yesterday. This is exciting news, but it is essential that we maintain our guard for now as the risks still exist. I am proud of the cooperation of our entire campus community throughout this pandemic, and I thank you for your willingness to endure these inconveniences for the sake of your fellow Warriors’ health and safety.
