Public Health Committee

Dear campus community,

As we continue to prepare for the fall, we again want to encourage everyone who plans to be on campus to get vaccinated — for your own safety and the safety of others.

Currently, dangerous coronavirus variants are emerging throughout the world. One of them — the Delta variant, which originated in India — is particularly virulent and contagious. Right now, the Delta variant is responsible for approximately 12% of coronavirus cases in area hospitals. This variant also affects a younger segment of the population.

It is estimated that by fall, between 30 and 40% of all COVID-19 cases will be caused by the Delta variant. There is still much to learn about these variants, but we do know one thing for certain: the best protection is to get vaccinated.

All three approved vaccines will protect against the Delta variant, and all are currently in abundant supply. There is no good reason not to get vaccinated. You can schedule your vaccination at the Campus Health Center or at the most convenient location.

Thank you,

The Public Health Committee
