The start of the fall semester is my favorite time of year. Watching our campus come alive as students begin the academic year is always a reminder of the great privilege and responsibility I have as a university president. This fall is particularly memorable, as it sees a return to campus for many of us after an extended time apart.
If this is your first time on our campus, welcome. You will quickly see that Wayne State University provides a truly unique campus experience. I hope you take time to explore all that we have to offer, whether that’s grabbing lunch at the Student Center Building, relaxing with friends in Fountain Court, or exercising at the Mort Harris Recreation and Fitness Center. Be sure to make time to explore our neighborhood and experience the excitement and culture awaiting in Detroit.
For those returning, welcome back. You may notice that campus has changed while you’ve been away, with the addition of the STEM Innovation Learning Center, the expansion of the Towers Café, and the opening of several new on-campus dining and retail locations. I believe these additions will enhance your experience.
Please take a moment to watch this welcome back video, which celebrates the resilience of the Warrior community.
Plan to join us to cheer on the Warrior football team this season or take part in one of the many on-campus activities planned for this semester. Whether you're a first-time Warrior or you're returning to campus, you can look forward to a variety of transformative experiences.
You have my best wishes for a successful semester. As always, remain Warrior Strong.
