Dear campus community, Yet again we are mourning the loss of young and innocent lives to a random act of hatred and violence. Yet again we try to make sense of it, but such efforts are futile. What happened at Oxford High School yesterday is as inexplicable as it is heartbreaking. And this tragedy is close to home. Oxford is not far up the road from campus. Many Oxford High School students have applied to Wayne State University, and some alumni are already part of our Warrior family. While we will never understand such acts, I hope we never grow accustomed to them, however frequently they seem to occur. They are terrible and perverse atrocities, no matter how many times they happen. As hard as it is to do, we need to share in this hurt, however painful, as we keep the victims, the survivors and their loved ones in our hearts. Sincerely,
