Financial Aid Disbursements for 2022-23

Since the School of Medicine is moving to a four-term academic year, financial aid will now be disbursed in four equal payments.

Instead of having to budget your refund for 6 months, you only have to budget for 3 months and at that point, another disbursement of financial aid will occur.

Estimated disbursement dates can be found here: https://wayne.edu/financial-aid/medicine/disbursement.

We encourage you to check this website often as dates may change if the SoM academic calendar changes. In order to receive a financial aid disbursement:

  • You must meet financial aid satisfactory academic progress standards (SAP).
  • You must be registered at least half-time. All grades must be recorded and reviewed from the prior semester before your financial aid eligibility can be determined for the new academic year.
  • Missing grades from the prior academic year or term will delay your disbursement. For students who do experience a delay in their financial aid disbursement due to missing grades, please know that the Financial Aid Office and the Records and Registration Office work very closely to ensure that once grades are in, SAP can be determined, and your aid can disburse ASAP.
  • If your registration status changes during the academic year, your aid may be reduced or canceled.

If you have questions, we have answers!!

  • Stop by: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays
  • Remote: Tuesdays and Thursdays
  • Appointments with Adam Zangerle or Dr. Barbara Jones are also available

Returning from a Leave of Absence (LOA)?

If you are returning from a LOA during the 2022-23 academic year and you are interested in receiving financial aid, you must submit a 2022-23 Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) Appeal.

We encourage you to submit the appeal early as it may take a couple weeks from the initial appeal submission to a determination of your financial aid eligibility being reached.

There is still time to complete your 2022-23 FAFSA!

More information on the FAFSA and how to complete it can be found at studentaid.gov.
