Roundtable: Global Perspectives in Courses Across the Curriculum

2:30 - 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15 (virtual)

During a time when most foreign travel became impossible, instructors from across the university were able to include global perspectives into their classes through Collaborative Online International Learning, or "COIL." COIL usually centers around a common project shared between a class at Wayne State and a class abroad. COIL projects can vary in length and composition. The success of COIL strategies has led to an increasing number of faculty who continue to collaborate with a partner abroad in this way. In this virtual session, roundtable participants will share the set-up of their specific projects, lessons they learned, and how students benefited from COIL experiences. The goal of the roundtable is to show a variety of projects to inspire ideas for instructors in all disciplines to include global learning in their own classes. This session will be led by Nicole Coleman, associate professor in classical and modern languages, literatures and cultures.
