Wayne State University

Dear colleagues,

I’m writing to inform you that Susan Burns, vice president for development and alumni affairs and president of the Wayne State University Foundation, will retire on March 31. While I’ll greatly miss her presence on campus, I want to congratulate her on this well-deserved next chapter.

Susan has made an immeasurable impact on Wayne State since she first arrived on campus. She served in a leadership role during Wayne State’s first comprehensive capital campaign and returned to close our second campaign in 2018. She has built a solid foundation for our third historic fundraising campaign and feels this is an optimal time for her transition. She looks forward to spending more time with her family in her retirement.

Susan has devoted her passion and expertise fully to Wayne State over the years, and I know that the many successes she and her team accomplished have helped to build a brighter and more sustainable future for our campus.

We’re working on developing a transition plan that will allow us to continue the division's momentum unabated. In the meantime, I hope you will join me in offering Susan our deepest thanks and best wishes.

Regards,

M. Roy Wilson
