School of Medicine - Wayne State University

The School of Medicine Graduate Student Senate Provisional Board invites you to participate in the School of Medicine Graduate Student Senate.

All graduate students in the School of Medicine are invited to attend an informational meeting regarding running for a position in the newly formed Graduate Student Senate. We believe that Wayne State University School of Medicine graduate students have long been underrepresented in community-based, administrative and financial conversations. To remedy this and better serve the needs of the graduate students, we are forming a School of Medicine Graduate Student Senate.

We are seeking individuals looking to represent their department and the graduate student body at-large in the newly formed senate. We plan to run elections for the executive board in mid-September and elections for department representatives at the end of November. The executive board will consist of a president, vice president, secretary, treasurer, communications director, activities director, and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion representative. For department representatives, there will be one doctoral student and one master’s student per department. If no master’s student runs for the position, the second department representative may be another doctoral student.

We are hosting an informational Zoom session Aug. 9 at 5 p.m. (see Zoom link below) and a second in-person session Sept. 6 at 5 p.m. on the sixth floor of Scott Hall in Room 6364.
