Each academic year, the School of Social Work recognizes one full-time and one part-time instructor for their outstanding contributions to undergraduate and/or graduate social work. These awards aim to recognize individual faculty for teaching that stimulates intellectual curiosity in students, inspires departmental colleagues, and makes students aware of significant relationships between the School and the world-at-large.

Criteria

Please consider nominating a faculty member of your choice who, in your opinion, devotes their attention to providing an excellent learning experience for Wayne State University SSW students, through the following:

  • A strong commitment to students and to teaching and learning
  • Excellence in teaching, as evidenced particularly by the use of effective teaching strategies and notable methods of assessing student learning
  • Innovations in teaching and learning
  • A strong commitment to working effectively with a diverse student body
  • A demonstrable impact on students’ intellectual and professional development and on their lives. ​

Nominations

Nominations may be submitted by any undergraduate or graduate social work students.

Nomination packet

For the nomination, please include the name of the nominee and a statement (no more than 500 words) addressing those activities that warrant nomination.

Nominations must be submitted by Friday, March 15, 2024. Each award recipient will receive a $1,000 cash prize.
