GME Achievements in 2023-24
On Tuesday, September 24, GME held the first GMEC meeting of the 2024-25 AY, attended by program and Resident Council leadership. Staff presentation of the ACGME-mandated Annual Institutional Review (AIR) constituted the bulk of the proceedings, with summaries of achievements and outcomes in the past year followed by a preview of goals for 2024-25. We addressed core areas such as program accreditation and state-funded growth (MIDOCS); institutional evaluation processes; resident scholarly activity, wellness initiatives, professional development, clinical communication skills, and relationships with institutional leaders; Resident Council events; diversity and inclusion efforts; and residency program marketing. There were many GME accomplishments during 2023-24, but I’d like to note in particular that none of our residency programs have any citations and continue a very impressive, multi-year record of faculty and resident research publication and presentations as well as high rates of resident participation in quality improvement initiatives. In addition, in 2024 our new Mohs fellowship received initial accreditation, and for the 2025 AY MIDOCS has approved 2 additional residency slots for our Internal Medicine program at APRH.
