The Network for Social Work Management (NSWM) is now offering students enrolled in the macro social work concentration of their master of social work program, the opportunity to receive a Certificate in Human Service Management. Using the NSWM management competencies as a guide for focusing your coursework on various and critical aspects of supervisory and management effectiveness, has resulted in a structure that allows students to learn and test out their emerging management skills within the safety of the classroom and field internships. The certification on your resumes can help you stand out on the job market and to demonstrate in job interviews and in work settings an understanding of the competencies and skills needed to become the managers and leaders the human service field deserves.

To apply is simple:

  • STEP 1: Submit the requested information HERE by April 19, 2021
  • We will review your transcripts/plan of work and you will be notified of your eligibility. At a minimum, students will need to have completed SW7085 (Leadership Strategies) or SW8065/SW8075/SW8085 or SW7095 (Social Entrepreneurship) as they contain management and leadership competencies.
  • STEP 2: Once you receive your approval, submit a payment of $50 to The WSU School of Social Work via the SSW online store by May 3, 2021

You will receive your certificate in Summer 2021.

If you have any questions about what classes would help you in acquiring this certificate, please contact Lawrence Robinson at 313-577-8019 or dz2996@wayne.edu.
