The Michigan AHEC Scholars Program recently launched its third cohort with a record number of students since the program was launched in 2019. A total of 80 health professions students from across the state of Michigan will take part in AHEC Scholars this year.

WMed and the Michigan Area Health Education Program (AHEC) Scholars Program have teamed up to integrate the AHEC Scholars Program curriculum into a new elective course for third- and fourth-year medical students. The program is called the WMed Interprofessional Focus in Community Health Distinction Program.

AHEC Scholar Jordan Killingsworth is a 4th year medical student and Central Michigan University’s School of Medicine. Jordan grew up in the small town of Perry, MI and knew from a young age that he wanted to pursue a career in science or mathematics.
