Office of the President - Wayne State University

Dear colleagues,

Wayne State University is designating Thursday, Feb. 18, as Mental Health Day. The purpose of this day is to give members of our campus community the opportunity to connect with each other, discover available resources to support their health and well-being, and take some much-needed time to prioritize their own self-care.

Thursday, Feb. 18, will be a paid day off for employees. Please connect with your supervisor to discuss how you can use this time to focus on your mental health. Based on their role within the university, some employees may be unable to use Feb. 18 as a mental health day; if that is the case, supervisors should consider allowing those staff members to use another day the week of Feb. 15 to prioritize their mental health.

We will have a number of interactive resources and activities available at wayne.edu/mental-health-day to help Warriors stay connected. I encourage you to sign up for our calling campaign and reach out to 10 students throughout the week. You might also consider hosting a virtual relaxation station to engage with others who share your interests. I also recommend that you take advantage of the Employee Assistance Program for free, confidential support available 24/7, and discover different ways that you can practice self-care.

Thank you for your continued commitment to our mission, and for your perseverance as we navigate this ever-changing environment. Mental Health Day may be Feb. 18, but every day is important for your mental health. Please continue to take care of yourselves.

M. Roy Wilson
President
