Kim Varela in her Restorative Arts classKimberly Varela spent a decade as an international airfreight logistics specialist before earning her bachelor's degree in Mortuary Science from Wayne State in 2013. She also rounded her education with a post-bachelor certificate in Forensic Investigation. “My job shows me the worst-case scenario," she said. "Every day, I see the death we’re all trying to avoid.” 


Pharmaceutical Sciences graduate wins Wayne State’s 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award

Dr. XieAfter earning his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Wayne State in 1994, Dr. Zhongcong Xie set forth on an outstanding career as a clinician, teacher and international scientist at Harvard Medical School. Currently, he is the Henry Knowles Beecher Endowed Chair in the Department of Anesthesiology, where he serves as director of the Geriatric Anesthesia Research Unit in the Department of Anesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital.
