Movies in Medical Education (MIME) is a new student organization aimed at exploring themes relevant to the practice of medicine at every level of training through film. Movies can teach empathetic behaviors, self-reflection, compassion, and other skills that may not necessarily be explored in traditional medical curricula. Our objective is to bring together students, residents and faculty to explore and discuss topics such as professionalism, institutional racism, sexual identity, social determinants of health, patient-physician relationships, and more in a safe, respectful environment.

The Intouchables, our March film event, coincides with the Class of 2023 starting clerkship! As students enter a year filled with a myriad of patient encounters and opportunities to learn the importance of a strong patient-physician relationship, we will stream The Intouchables.  The film follows the relationship between an aristocarat who becomes a quadriplegic from a paragliding accident and a young man from the projects who becomes his caregiver.

Join us for the movie followed by a discussion about the importance of strong patient-physician relationships and ways we can improve communication with our patients in order to provide holistic, quality care.
