CBHJ's Tamarie Willis begins new role as Re-entry Projects Manager CBHJ's Tamarie Willis begins new role as Re-entry Projects Manager  

The Center for Behavioral Health and Justice is pleased to announce the promotion of Tamarie Willis to Re-entry Projects Manager. Tamarie has served as a coordinator on the Michigan Re-entry Project (MI-REP) since 2018. "I am excited to move into this role as we work on the continued sustainability of our current initiatives, while also seeking to expand the CBHJ's reach into more innovative and needed programming," said Willis.

CBHJ launches new Crisis Response initiative, managed by Leonard Swanson  

"We need more robust connections between the traditional 911 and behavioral health systems. Whether that involves recognition at dispatch, training for law enforcement, mobile crisis teams, or crisis stabilization, we need data and evaluation to legitimize and sustain this momentum into lasting system change," said Swanson.

"The jail is part of the community," said Kubiak, stressing that people need to view the situation holistically. "We felt, if we were really going to embrace the public safety aspect of jails — the purpose of the jails, —then it was important to protect the public from people who are positive coming out."
