Guest Speakers: Dr. Kilgore and Dr. Zervos have worked with the Mayor's office and Detroit Health Department on a variety of issues including; expanding testing capacity, mobile testing, control of COVID-19 in vulnerable populations including nursing homes, homeless shelters and participation with the health department in investigations. Paul Kilgore, M.P.H., M.D., is an Associate Professor and Director of research at Wayne State University's College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences. He has over 25 years-experience working in medicine, public health and areas where infectious diseases thrive. He is the author of the book "The COVID-19 Survival Guide" which provides a breakdown of how the coronavirus may affect us and what we can do to successfully fight this killer virus. Dr. Kilgore recently spoke on Detroit Today about how to keep safe during the holidays. He is also the principal investigator at Henry Ford Health System's novel coronavirus vaccine trial. Marcus Zervos, M.D., is Division Head, Infectious Diseases, Henry Ford Health System in Detroit,Michigan. He is also Assistant Dean, Global Affairs and Professor of Medicine at Wayne State University. His work has included working with vulnerable populations here and internationally. Internationally he has worked in over thirty low and middle income countries building sustainable capacity in a variety of platforms. His work locally has included water safety and legionnaires disease in Flint, and more recently COVID work in Detroit. He was appointed advisor to Mayor office for COVID-19 in March of last year.
