Even in these difficult pandemic times our faculty, staff, and students have been busy producing cutting-edge scholarship, winning awards, and achieving milestones in their careers. We celebrate their successes and thank them for their dedication to our discipline and students. 

Virginia Nastase's long road to acheiving her bachelor's degree in anthropology culminated in the invitation to be the student commencement speaker at the CLAS graduation ceremony. 

Professors Lauren Hayes and Yuson Jung mentored anthropology graduate students during their practicum with D-Ford, the human-centered design group of the Ford Motor Company. 

Undergraduates Brianna LeBlanc and Jessica Old share their experiences conducting NSF-funded archaeological excavations at the colonial-period West Ashcom site in Maryland. 

We remember the life and contributions of our colleague, Dr. Gordon Grosscup. 

The Grosscup Museum of Anthropology's new exhibit, "From Allada to Detroit: Storytelling through material culture in the African diaspora," honors the career of Dr. Guerin Montilus, Professor Emeritus. 

Twenty-seven new graduates will be putting their anthropology majors or minors to work in the next chapter of their professional lives!  

This past year has been a time of loss and mourning in our departmental community with the passing of several colleagues and students.
