Title IX Training for Advisors
As academic advisors, we play a role in WSU's commitment to maintaining a safe living, learning and working environment for our campus community. Understanding and upholding the policies and processes of Title IX is an important requirement for our work with students. In order to provide a full understanding of the law, its regulations and your role, the ATA and the WSU Title IX office encourages all advisors to do the following steps: 1. Complete the 30-minute, self-paced Title IX staff training which can be found by clicking the yellow "Title IX Training for Faculty and Staff" button on the website homepage. 2. Attend the virtual Title IX Q&A Session for Advisors on Thursday, April 7, 2022 from 11 a.m. to Noon presented by WSU Title IX Coordinator Brandy Banks. RSVP through the link below. 3. MIACADA Proposal Deadline
The Call for Proposals for the MIACADA 2022 conference to be held at Wayne State University on May 20, 2022 has been extended until March 18, 2022. If you have an idea you have been considering, or need more time to develop a proposal, please keep working toward your goal! This year’s theme is “Lean on Me: Creating a Culture of Collaboration” and the selection committee is looking for high-quality, engaging submissions to consider! Moving forward, the ATA and the Degree Works team will host a monthly Degree Works Drop-In on the last Thursday of the month from 10 to 10:30 a.m. These will be open sessions to answer your questions. Feel free to bring examples to get real-time help from the team, or just come and learn from others! |  | | | ATA Training Curriculum Modules The ATA's "Introduction to Academic Advising" training program will be offered this spring in a hybrid format. Three modules will be held virtually on the dates below. Three modules, along with the prerequisite requirement, can be completed through self-paced modules within the ATA Training Curriculum Canvas Course. Materials for all modules are available on the Canvas course and all who register will be enrolled. All six modules are meant to be experienced by new advisors (hired April 2021 or later) and will lead to Level 1 certification. Experienced advisors would qualify for Level 1 certification with modules 4, 5, and 6. All advisors are welcome to attend for review purposes. The Region 5 Mentoring Program is a way to get started! You can become a mentor and give back to the advising profession. You can become a mentee and receive guidance. We all benefit when making NACADA connections across Region 5 and the possibilities are tremendous. Who knows? Maybe through a new NACADA mentoring connection, you could develop a future NACADA proposal. The new application process is streamlined and uses your interests to establish mentor/mentee pairs.
