AHEC Scholars Graduates Third Cohort This past April, Michigan AHEC hosted a virtual AHEC Scholars Recognition Ceremony. Eight student groups presented their team-based quality improvement projects and all AHEC scholars were recognized for completing the 2-year program. This graduating cohort of students came from across Michigan and represented the following academic institutions: WMU Homer Stryker MD School of Medicine, CMU College of Medicine, WSU School of Medicine, U of M School of Social Work, WSU School of Social Work, WSU College of Nursing, WSU Eugene Applebaum College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, Baker College of Cadillac and Ferris State University College of Pharmacy. |
AHEC Scholar Spotlight As a resident of Northern Michigan, Ruthann Strickland had a successful career in recreation and ski area management. After caring for her mother for six years until the time of her death, she decided to switch gears and started nursing school at Baker College in Cadillac. While caring for her mother she learned that, "though helping others live their best life is important, you must also remember to live your best life right along with them.
