Campus Health Center’s commitment to the LGBTQI community

As part of Pride Month, we wanted to share our commitment to serving the LGBTQI community at Wayne State. At Campus Health Center:

  • We condemn discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity and/or expression in health care.
  • We recognize discrimination against LGBTQI individuals exists in health care, and we will continue to advocate for our LGBTQI Warrior community and provide culturally congruent care to all.
  • We acknowledge bias and bigotry in health care is a barrier for many LGBTQI individuals when seeking out and receiving timely, high-quality care.
  • We commit to always being a safe space for LGBTQI individuals to receive excellent, inclusive health care.
  • We understand the link between physical and mental health and academic success.
  • We commit to continuing to grow and learn in ways to better serve our LGBTQI Warriors.

Did you know we offer PrEP?

What is PrEP? PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) is medicine that reduces your chances of getting HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) from sex or injection drug use. When taken as prescribed, PrEP is highly effective for preventing HIV. HIV is a virus that attacks the body’s immune system. If HIV is not treated, it can lead to AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome). To lean more, schedule an appointment with a health care provider at Campus Health Center.

Free illness visit

Remember… you get one free illness visit at Campus Health Center per semester you are enrolled. The free visit covers the provider time. Ancillary services such as additional tests and lab work are not covered under the free visit and will be billed to your insurance. Schedule an appointment.
