Dear members of the Wayne State University community: On behalf of the Wayne State Board of Governors, I would like to provide an update on the presidential search process and provide information on how to offer your input. As we embark on the search for the 13th president of Wayne State University, we are seeking a visionary leader who will continue our commitment to providing students an excellent and affordable higher education led by superior faculty. This new leader will build on the strong legacy of President M. Roy Wilson, who will have successfully led Wayne State for the last 10 years. We will further President Wilson’s vision of continuing to transform our university into one of the pre-eminent, public, urban research universities in the nation. The members of the Board of Governors, with advice from university administration, are currently at work selecting a search firm experienced in higher education. We are also beginning the process of appointing members to the Presidential Search Committee. Both decisions will be announced within the next few weeks. Our goal is to have a new president in place by the fall term, 2023. In the meantime, we invite you to attend one of the listening sessions we have scheduled in order to solicit feedback on our next president. We would very much like your input. Each listening session is jointly hosted by the BOG and a key campus partner. All sessions are open to the WSU community. Thursday, Oct. 13 Tuesday, Oct. 25 Thursday, Nov. 10 Tuesday, Nov. 15 Should you have any questions about this process, or if you would like to provide questions in advance for the listening sessions, please email search@wayne.edu. Thank you for your interest as we work together to choose the next leader of Wayne State University. Mark Gaffney, Chair
