On Friday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m., the Black Student Union, Department of African American Studies, and Division of Government and Community Affairs will welcome Derrick Johnson, NAACP president and CEO, for a discussion on civil rights and activism as we celebrate Black History Month. This timely conversation will explore the role activism plays in the continued effort to ensure complete civil rights for all.

Advancing Antiracism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in STEMM Organizations  

The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine will release the consensus study report, "Advancing Antiracism, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in STEMM Organizations: Beyond Broadening Participation," on Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. The webinar will include an overview of the study and discussion of the report’s findings, conclusions and recommendations. Wayne State University President M. Roy Wilson will be among the speakers.

In recognition of Black History Month, TechTown will host "Detroit on the Move: Celebrating the Evolution of Black Mobility," a daylong conference at the Wayne State Industry Innovation Center, at 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16. This event will honor the legacy of Black leaders in the mobility industry and highlight the recent achievements of the new generation of pioneers.
