Highlighted events | | From prison cells to Ph.D.: It is never too late to do good Wayne State will welcome Howard University College of Medicine Assistant Professor Stanley Andrisse, Ph.D., for an interactive discussion and Q&A session on March 31 at 11 a.m. Once incarcerated for drug dealing, Andrisse was accepted into a Ph.D. program after his release. He completed his Ph.D. and M.B.A. simultaneously and became an endocrinologist and impactful leader in diabetes research. Please join us to hear his journey. | | MLK's 'Letter from Birmingham Jail' at 60: Reflections on a modern classic On April 3 at 3:30 p.m., in the Bernath Auditorium of the David Adamany Undergraduate Library, Wayne State faculty members Brad Roth and Ron Brown will offer powerful presentations about Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.'s famed "Letter from Birmingham Jail." Roth will describe the letter’s impact on secular theoretical approaches to civil disobedience and the authority of law.
