What do the different dates mean?
-
Financial Aid Disbursement: This is the date your Financial Aid pays out to your student account
-
Refund Date: Student refunds are issued if your payments and/or financial aid exceeds your student account charges, assuming all required conditions for a refund are met. The Student Accounts Receivable (SAR) Office will issue refunds weekly, beginning with the 1st refund date listed above. For information about student refunds, please visit Refunds - Office of the Bursar - Wayne State University
Is there anything that could delay my financial aid disbursement?
-
Yes. In order for financial aid to disburse, a student needs to be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), be registered at least half-time, and have accepted the financial aid through their Financial Aid Portal in Academica for 2023-24.
How are refunds sent out by SAR?
-
Direct Deposit: This is the fastest and most secure way to receive a Financial Aid Refund. It involves setting up an electronic deposit from WSU to your Bank Account. Direct deposit refunds will arrive in your bank account within 2-5 days, depending on your bank. For information about Direct Deposit refunds, including instructions for enrolling, please visit Direct Deposit Refund FAQs - Office of the Bursar - Wayne State University
-
Paper Check: If you do not set up direct deposit, a paper check will be mailed to you. It is mailed to the address on file with the university. Instructions to update that address are here: Name and address changes - Office of the Registrar - Wayne State University You may experience delays in receiving your paper refund checks due to printing and mailing delays.
When is payment for tuition and fees due?
-
Bill Due Dates: This is the date the bill is due to Wayne State University. Late fees will be assessed for non-payment after the 2nd due date of the term. Remember, if you are receiving financial aid or have signed up for a payment plan, your bill will not be paid by the initial due date because of the later disbursement date and your payment plan dates. Enrollment and successful completion of a payment plan will ensure that your account is not assessed a late fee for non-payment.
