The Wayne State University School of Medicine Women in Medicine and Science (WIMS) welcomes all members of our community to join us for an upcoming interactive discussion:

Planning and Writing Grant Proposals

Good ideas come to all of us. An excellent grant application provides a robust setting for that idea. Develop your next grant proposal with this workshop that will aid in transferring your good ideas on paper.

Learning Objectives:

  • Be responsive to the priorities of the funder
  • Present a clear argument based on facts
  • Show clear links between what has been done, what needs to be done and how your idea will help provide solutions.
  • Identify time management strategies for successful grant writing

When: Wednesday, August 2, 2023

Time: 12 p.m. – 1 p.m.

Location: ZOOM

Moderators:

Claire Pearson, MD, MPH, FACEP
Assistant Professor

Guest Speaker:

Dragana Komnenov

Dragana Komnenov Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in Physiology and Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology and Hypertension, Wayne State University School of Medicine. Her primary research interest is to understand the mechanisms of hypertension and how environmental factors, such as stress and diet play a role in creating a favorable milieu for the development of hypertension and cardiovascular disease. Since some humans are particularly inclined to increase dietary intake of highly palatable foods rich in high fructose corn syrup and salt during stress, she is particularly interested in the mechanisms of neurocardiovascular derangement and the development of cardiovascular disease in this setting. She serves on grant review committees nationally for the American Heart Association and locally for the Henry Ford Healthcare System.
