Dear Wayne State community, Today marks my first day as your president — I am honored to serve an institution with such a remarkable history and distinguished record of accomplishment. I am excited to begin working with you to continue Wayne State’s positive impact and momentum in Detroit and throughout our state. I was drawn to Wayne State because its values align with my own of promoting access and success to a top-tier education for our diverse students to realize their individual goals. I’ve seen the important role that urban, public research institutions play in advancing knowledge and developing solutions for our ever-evolving world. These universities are vital to the health of the cities they call home and, in turn, community partnerships make our institutions stronger and provide career pathways for our students.
