Wayne State University

Members of the campus community,

Welcome to a new academic year! It's wonderful to be part of this bustling campus, and I am thrilled to have joined Wayne State University as your president.

As we start this new semester, it’s good to remind ourselves that while our campus is among the safest in the nation, we all play a role in keeping it safe, starting with being aware and informed.

One of our core values is Integrity: we keep our word, live up to our values and commitments, and are accountable to ourselves and each other. Another is Diversity and Inclusion, where we value and respect all people and understand that their unique experiences, talents and perspectives make us a stronger organization and better people.

In accordance with our values, Wayne State University’s leadership team, and our entire university community, is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning, living and working environment for all our members that is free from violence or the threat of violence, including sexual misconduct and sexual harassment. Wayne State does not discriminate on the basis of sex in our education programs, activities and employment practices, and furthermore, does not tolerate behavior that violates the law or university policy.

We have many people and resources in place to help in this regard, a list of which is provided below as well as on our safety website. These resources address different situations — overall, they are designed to provide the right support at the right time for any member of our campus in need of assistance. I know there is a lot of information provided below important for your well-being. Therefore, I ask you to read this entire message carefully, and flag this email or bookmark the webpage, so you can have access to this information throughout your time at Wayne State.

Remember, as a member of the Wayne State community, you are automatically signed up for Wayne State Alerts, which will notify you of important closures, emergencies and other incidents. Those outside of the WSU community, such as parents, can sign up for alerts by texting WAYNESTATEALERT to 77295.
